At the very beginning of this post, I'm going to say something that is as well worn as it it cliched; especially in write-ups about this topic:: Art imitates life. My grandad's in town, and as usual, we're fast becoming up-to-date on what's hot and happening in the latest(or rather, the running-for-ages-and-still-show-no-signs-of-stopping) marathi serials.
There's a rather interesting one, in which the protagonist is a the MD and owner of a leading food products company. This girl, who is apparently street-smart, intelligent, and extremely beautiful is juggling work and her various other commitments at the same time. Like it? Wait, it gets better. As if this wasn't enough to qualify her as the protagonist of the soap, she is also trying to foil the devious plot by her mother-in-law to bring her down in one of the shows in which her company intends to participate. And trying to figure out why her opportunist jerk of a husband(second husband, third boyfriend) behaves like he does. She is also dealing with the lawyer(who also happens to be in love with her) in her sister's divorce/fraud case. (BTW the sister's story is even hotter, in e-news jargon.) All the while , dealing with the brutal murder of her mother by the deranged wife of her sister's husband, who is NOT her sister, btw.
Jeez, and to think I say my life is hard when I have five incomplete CL1 assignments.
p.s. Okay, the pronouns got mixed, but seriously, you expect me to have perfect grammar when I'm explaining the scenario of a soap? :P
p.p.s. And yeah, as for the art imitates life thingy at the beginning, I wonder, who on earth has a life so convoluted that it would probably take several tack pins and thread in 2^32 bpp colours to draw a weighted, multicoloured variegated graph to explain their personal relationships. And as for life imitates art, dear God, I (fervently) hope not.
p.p.p.s. Although calling what they show on tv nowadays 'art', MAY be stretching it a bit.
